Top 7, BUBT Intra University Programming Contest
It was BUBT Intra University Programming Contest, my first ever programming contest. Back then, I did not even know how to write a recursive function. Well, to be honest, that’s too much... I did not even know how to do exception handling or handle complex functional problems using C/C++. I was just learning.
My course teacher, ABU QUWSAR OHI, noticed my fondness for mathematics but also my dislike for Computer Science. He suggested forming a group of 3 people to attend the programming contest. In his opinion, participating in such a contest would make me realize that Computer Science is one of the best fields to enhance one's love for mathematics through brainstorming and problem-solving.
I reached out to two of my friends, Sohel Ahmed Joni and Rabiul Rahat. We formed a group named ALGEBROS and participated in the contest. They wrote the code, and I supported them with mathematical insights. And guess what? It worked! We secured 7th position among our senior students.

See the asterisk beside our team name? (Algebros*) It meant, we were the freshers fighting with senior participants. It was there to distinguish us among all the other team.
It was a huge achievement back then, as it was our first programming contest right after getting admitted to BUBT, just after the commencement of classes in April.
I am forever grateful to my teacher, ABU QUWSAR OHI sir, and to my two mentors in programming, my brothers SOHEL AHMED JONI and RABIUL RAHAT, for trusting me and giving me a chance to participate. That experience eventually turned me into a mad man, solving problems and doing programming almost every day.
